I will do my best to be more verbose in the coming days. The long and short of it is that I followed the instructions here: http://stephencelis.com/archive/2008/4/testing-with-ultrasphinx/ and they worked brilliantly. Now when I run my tests, the modifications to the ‘rake’ command automatically bootstrap the ultrasphinx server for me in testing mode. This allows all of my tests on the search controller to have a proper index to run against.
